Hugh Owen
Long Term Investment
I first heard of Koinonia in 1943 when I was a
young soldier in World War II. Clarence Jordan I knew slightly
and like most people who knew him, especially young people, I
was in awe of him. Before leaving for the war, in the summers
of 1941 and 1942 I had the privilege of sitting in his New Testament
classes at Ridgecrest, North Carolina, and nothing was ever quite
the same again.
When I heard of the beginning of Koinonia I scraped
up a small sum, I think it was twenty dollars (Army pay was less
than a hundred dollars a month), and sent it to him. And behold--
he sent a long personal letter telling about the venture and what
he hoped to do. I wish I still had the letter. Anyway, I guess
I am a charter investor in Koinonia.
