CITIZEN WEAPONS INSPECTION TEAM ATTEMPTS TO INSPECT Y12 BOMB PLANT
Oak Ridge, Tennessee March 30, 2003

There is overwhelming evidence that The United States possesses weapons of mass destruction and that the Bush regime is intent on using them. In an attempt to curb this dangerous threat to global security, a citizen inspection team descended upon a key part of the U.S. Military Industrial Complex, the Y12 "National Security Complex" in Oak Ridge, TN, on March 30th to assess US compliance with the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty.

For this reason, members of the Koinonia community joined hundreds of others from across the country to shut the facility down.

A line of state troopers marched (in formation) onto the scene. When a state trooper was asked why they were there, he replied "to keep the peace"

Following a drum circle and dance in the street that leads to Y-12, protesters looked on and cheered as 6 people were arrested for civil disobedience by blocking the main road past the facility. The main entrance was closed for over an hour.

A small group of counter protesters were there to express their concern, raise their voices, and blow their air horn.

At the end of the day, protesters moved away, leaving the state troopers looking over an empty road before they finally marched away (once again in formation).
