The Koinonia Community Outreach Center (KCOC) will be hosting the “Atlanta Peace Mobile” for a fun week of activities designed to help children explore concepts of peace. The Atlanta Peace Mobile is a unique traveling museum with a fantastic array of interactive, hands-on exhibits including arts and crafts, puppetry, computer programs, brass etching, giant puzzles and more. The Peace Mobile creates learning experiences that encourage all visitors (both young and old) to touch, ponder and experiment as they explore the many ideas and techniques for building a peaceful world.

The week will culminate on Saturday, June 19th, with an open house Peace Festival for visitors of all ages (adults, children & families).

Four aspects of peace will be emphasized:

PEACE FOR ME (Inner Peace) - helps children discover the wonder and beauty within themselves, where peace must begin. Self-esteem, uniqueness, self-confidence, and emotions are explored.

PEACE FOR US - explores daily relationships of family and friends, stressing cooperation, teamwork, respect for all, conflict resolution, mediation, and communication.

PEACE FOR EVERYONE - encourages children to examine the possibilities for peace within groups, including cultural appreciation and diversity. A world view of understanding others and their ways of living is presented.

PEACE FOR THE PLANET - stewardship of God’s creation, planetary care, environmental appreciation, ecology and respect for nature are explored in educational and fun exhibits.

For details about registration, schedule and activities, contact Sanders Thornburgh at 229-924-0391 (ext. #14) or Kathleen Monts at 229-931-9835.
