Called “the best music Harry Chapin ever wrote” (David Marsh, Rolling Stone Magazine), the show combines gospel singers and a bluegrass band with Tom Key’s flawless storytelling magic.

Annual Freedom Walk
Since 1996, the Prison & Jail Project has led a sojourn through Southwest Georgia. The Freedomwalk is not a trip on a tour bus; it's not a visit to honorable, historic sites. Instead, it is a humble 85-mile journey that calls attention to abuses in the Southwest Georgia criminal justice system. The stops include prisons built to house 1500 "criminal aliens;" courthouses where harsh sentences are passed; small, suffocating jails, which meet no standard of building, health, plumbing, or fire code, and yet imprison human beings mainly young, African American men as they await their trial and sentencing. August 6, 2005
A team of Koinonians will prepare and serve 45-50 lunches to families of prisoners as a partnership with the Prison & Jail Project. These families catch a bus from Atlanta all the way to Montezuma, Georgia to visit their loved ones incarcerated in the nearby penitentiary, and we "adopt" a weekend each year to break bread and fellowship with them.

They learned more than anyone expected about the role of faith in the civil rights struggle, living in a Christian community, racism, and daily life in rural America.
Look forward to seeing you there!
