KOINONIA COMMUNITY OUTREACH CENTER ANNOUNCES PLANS
FOR SUMMER CAMP FOR YOUTH

The Koinonia Community Outreach Center (KCOC) is excited to announce its four-week camp for children in kindergarten through sixth grade, meeting daily from 9:00 a.m. to noon, June 6 through July 1. Kids can look forward to camping trips, fun time with Krazy Klown, the opportunity to participate in Heifer International, learning how they can help build a Habitat for Humanity home, and much more.

Though there will be small fees for some scheduled field trips, there is no fee for the summer camp itself. A nutritious lunch will be served daily at no charge as well. For more information or to register, please call KCOC at 931-9835 or 924-0391. Each week has its own theme:

June 6-10: Great Adventure Week; activities will focus on the outdoors and camping. There will even be an opportunity for an overnight camping trip to Providence Canyon State Park.
June 13-17: Heroes of the Bible Week; Louella Krieger, known as the Krazy Clown for
(over)
Christ, will bring her program to KCOC and will offer a fun-filled morning of storytelling.
June 20-24: Animal Crackers Week; the animal crackers curriculum comes to us from Heifer International. With an emphasis on global awareness, poverty, world hunger and agriculture, the curriculum offers children a chance to donate an animal for a family in need somewhere in the world.
June 27-July 1: Building Houses and a Community of Faith; the final week of summer camp focuses on Smyth & Helwys’ “Under Construction” program. This curriculum emphasizes Habitat for Humanity and includes meaningful ways for children to contribute to Habitat homes by making craft projects that will be donated to homeowners.

KCOC director, Kathleen Monts, says, “Offering summer camp has a long history at Koinonia. There have already been so many wonderful people helping to plan this year’s camp and many others will join us for the camp itself: a group from the First Baptist Church of Pendleton, SC, another from Emmanuel Baptist Fellowship and a group from New Hope Christian Fellowship and more. This will be the best camp ever.”

Koinonia Community Outreach Center is a ministry of Koinonia Farm. Koinonia, founded in 1942 as an intentional Christian community, is located at 1324 GA Highway 49 South. Visitors enjoy tours offered daily and are always welcome to visit the community’s museum and store.
